About Paralimni
Paralimni today is rich and small and a progressive town which combines the advantages
of a traditional village with the conveniences of a contemporary town. Modern shops,
centres and offices stand beside traditional coffee shops and old stores. The main square,
complete with its coffee shops has retained the characteristics of the old village. The adjacent
streets, the new squares and the park all carry the characteristics of a modern town with its
beautiful showrooms and modern shops. There¹s an air of content and social harmony.
In recent years, due to its rapid development, the whole tourist area of Paralimni Municipality
has been called Protaras. This extends for approximately 10 kilometres beginning in the north
in the Kapparis locality and ending in the south in the Konnos area. Other areas along this coast
are the Ayia Triada bay, Vrysoythkia bay, Pernera bay, the islands and others.
Fortunately the sea has retained its glassy clarity and Protaras’ beaches are among the best on the island.
Travel north and you’ll discover isolated coves bitten from the coastline, while eight kilometres to the south
there’s the 24-hour party Mecca that is Ayia Napa.
